1978 Greenwood Turbo GT Corvette #002

FOR SALE: $42,500 or best offer

If you're looking for that really unique, extremely limited production, head-turning Corvette, this is the car for you! This is the second of only three Greenwood Turbo GTs built. The Turbo body style was the most copied body kit for the C3 Corvette, and companies like American Custom Industries and Eckler's even built cars resembling the Greenwood Turbo GT.

This car was purchased by myself in 1991 from the originating dealer who had not titled the car. The odometer shows just over 16,000 miles, and this is the original mileage. This Turbo GT was used by John Greenwood for photo shoots that appeared in many magazine articles. This car was selected as one of Chip's Choice cars for special display at Corvettes at Carlisle 2004.

Suspension & Steering
The original suspension, as modified by Greenwood, is intact as it was when built. The rear suspension has state-of-the-art aadjustable upper/lower arm units and Koni coil-overs that yield anti-squat and anti-dive characteristics. The signature tweaked steering box and needle bearing idler arm are present and account for superior cornering ability.

Engine
The original L-48 engine is in place with fully functioning T04 turbocharger. The wastegate was replaced with a new adjustable Turbonetics unit. The intake and exhaust manifolds, turbo housing and exhaust pipes have been Jet Hot coated for corrosion resistance and cooler running. The air cleaner has been upgraded to a K&N unit, and the original will be included. New Optima battery. New oil cooler and fresh Amsoil synthetic oil.

Transmission
Original TH350 with shift kit.

Interior
The rear cargo area carpeting was replaced. The stereo is the original AM/FM/8-track. All gauges work except the clock (surprised?).

Exterior
The second Turbo GT was built from years of racing experience and a refiinement of the original Greenwood Sebring GT bodywork. The hood is the original Greenwood-designed Turbo hood with single NACA duct and rear cowl vents. Both front and rear fenders are vented at the rear, alleviating heat and pressure build-up. The unique Turbo rear wing was designed specifically for this car. The wheels are the original American Racing Vector 10" wheels. Tires are new BF Goodrich Radial T/As: 275/50-SR15 in the front and 295/50-SR15 in the rear. The Cragar rear window louver and vintage Moonroof glass T-tops were added for aesthetics.

The overall condition of this car is very good. It has had under 4 thousand miles put on it since 1991. The paint appears to have been touched up in the past and some paint cracks and bubbling is found on the hood and front end. From ten feet, this car looks great, but for show quality a repaint would be in order. The performance is exceptional, both straight-line and through the curves. If you're tired of the same old Shark era Corvettes which pretty much all look the same, this is the car for you! Be prepared, however, for many questions and many thumbs up! Not only do you have here a high performance Corvette that way outperforms its stock counterparts, but you also have the exclusivity of knowing you have a real, historically significant, Greenwood original.

Included with this car is the original title from the dealer who commissioned this car to be built, Certificate of Authenticity from John and Burt Greenwood, and all magazines containing articles and ads in which this car appears.

Will consider a low-mileage C5 Corvette as partial trade.
This car is located in the Orlando, Florida area.
